Accessibility and ADA Commitment

Last updated: September 8, 2026

Scott County, Kansas (the County) is committed to providing residents, businesses, and visitors with equal access to information, services, and programs through its websites and digital services.

Accessibility Standard & Commitment

The County is working to ensure that its web content and online services are readily accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities, consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related federal regulations for state and local governments. These regulations reference the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as the technical standard for accessible digital content.

Where feasible, the County’s goal is for new and significantly updated web content under its direct control to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

This commitment covers:

  • The primary Scott County website.
  • Any official subdomains operated by the County.
  • Online forms and digital services managed by the County for public programs and services.

Ongoing Efforts & Legacy Content

Scott County is actively:

  • Reviewing key webpages and online services for accessibility barriers.
  • Updating website templates, content, and components to improve accessibility where feasible.
  • Working with its web developer and vendors to improve digital accessibility over time.

Some older content, documents, and third-party tools may not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Certain archived materials retained for recordkeeping may not be remediated unless needed for active use. When possible, the County will provide accessible alternatives upon request.

Third-Party Content

The County’s websites may include content or services hosted by third parties, such as payment processors, mapping services, embedded widgets, or external booking and information systems. While the County encourages these providers to meet applicable accessibility standards, it does not control their code and cannot guarantee their conformance.

When notified of an accessibility barrier involving third-party content, Scott County will work in good faith with the provider to seek a solution or offer an alternative way to access the service.
