Noxious Weeds

The noxious weed department's job is to oversee the control and eradication of noxious weeds within Scott County. They offer a cost-share program to landowners to help fight noxious weeds.

In Scott County, the best-known species on the noxious weed list is field bindweed. Other noxious weeds include Kudzu, Russian Knapweed, Hoary Cress, Canada Thistle, Quack grass, Leafy Spurge, Bur Ragweed, Pignut, Musk Thistle, Johnson grass, and Sericea Lespedeza. The Board of County Commissioners may also declare Multiflora Rose and Bull thistle as noxious weeds within the boundaries of their county.
