Your Register of Deeds
Public Service Experience
Debbie started working at the Scott County Courthouse in 1986 in the Appraisers office. She worked also in the County Clerks office when the two offices of the Clerks and the Appraisers were combined. She quit in 1987 after her daugther, Amanda, was born. She came back to work in 1989 for Sharlene Wright, former Register of Deeds, as the Scott County Deputy Register of Deeds. In 2000, after Sharlene retired, Debbie ran for and won the elected position of Register of Deeds. She is currently serving her fifth term. She is currently a certified Kansas Register of Deeds.
Community Involvement
Debbie is a member of the Scott City Lions Club and of the First Christian Church.
Professional Organizations
She was the past President of the Southwest Kansas Register of Deeds Association and also the past President of the Southwest Kansas Association of Counties. She serves on the Kansas Register of Deeds Association Care and Share Committee, Disaster Committee, and By-Laws and Standing Rules Committee.
Personal
Debbie has 3 children, Ronnie, and her family, currently living in Topeka, Kansas, Kevin, and Amanda both, along with their families are living in Scott City. She has 7 beautiful grandchildren. She really enjoys bike riding and anything else that gets her off the couch. She LOVES the Denver Broncos. :) Following in the love for dogs, she has two, both rescues.
